| Opportunities for Giving
- Ways You Can Help
The Good Samaritan Society (a 501(c)(3) non-profit)
is pleased to answer your inquiries about charitable giving through
memorial gifts, bequests, life income gifts, gift annuities, and
other investments. Our goal is to provide you and your family with
information that will be helpful to you. We ask that you contact
our Resource Development office at (870) 508-4076.
The old image of the institutional nursing home
has been replaced by the Good Samaritan Village of Mountain Home
with resident directed services in all levels of living in our community,
most noticeably in our Skilled Nursing Center’s health care
households. Residents come to Good Samaritan Village of Mountain
Home to continue growing, learning, and living. Each household operates
as a family.
All of our tomorrows are dependent upon the kindness
and generosity of our donors. One of the most meaningful gestures
you can make is recognition of our aging population in a positive
way by assisting our residents’ lives in continuing their
independence. Our nation’s belief in the value of philanthropy
is much more than philosophical. This belief is reflected in many
ways, one of which is our tax code. The tax code makes it possible
for your philanthropic spirit to be expressed through many forms
of giving.
Volunteers are Dear to Us
Good Samaritan Village appreciates our many volunteers
for contributing their talents and service to others.
Volunteers are special individuals who bring cheer
and support through personal visits, reading to residents, leading
programs or games, or choosing other opportunities.
Volunteers decorate bulletin boards, type, file,
help nurses with our walking program, shop for residents, and help
on outings. When you volunteer, you will be blessed.
For details on volunteer opportunities,
please call our Community Relations office (870) 425-2494, ext.

Methods
of Giving
Current Cash
Gifts -
Charitable gifts may be made using many types of property, in addition
to giving cash, which is often the simplest form of support. Tax
benefits are available for gifts when you itemize your tax return.
Gifts generate a charitable income tax deduction
for the donor in the year of the gift.
Stocks and Bonds
- Giving appreciated securities is the most advantageous
way to make a contribution. You will avoid capital gains tax and
receive a charitable income tax deduction equal to fair market value.
Property, Personal
Property - A gift of real estate that has been held for more
than a year provides a charitable tax deduction based on current
fair market value as well as bypassing capital gains tax on the
appreciation. Personal property, such as selected art work, books,
and antiques can, in certain situations, be an appropriate gift.
Please contact our Resource Development office prior to making your
gift.
Bequests -
Perhaps one of the best known ways to give is a charitable bequest.
Your bequest makes it possible for you to make your wishes known
today without relinquishing assets needed during your lifetime.
Planned Gifts
- Your gift of a life insurance policy is an example of a
planned, or deferred, gift. A qualified charity is designated as
owner and beneficiary of your policy which results in a charitable
income tax deduction that for you, in most cases, is equal to your
cost basis in the policy.
Gifts Providing
Income to You - The gift annuity or deferred gift annuity
are very popular methods of giving. The rate of return for a deferred
gift annuity as compared to other investments make it an attractive
supplement to retirement income. Based on your age, you may be able
to increase your income while also helping your neighbors.
Good Samaritan Village of Mountain Home is a 501(c)(3)
tax-exempt organization. Donations are tax deductible to the extent
provided in the current IRS Code.
Memorial
Giving
When making a memorial gift, memorial folders and
envelopes can be found in our chapel or you may request one from
our staff. Your gift may be left at the time of the funeral with
one of our staff. Or, you may enclose your gift in the envelope
provided with the memorial folders, being sure to supply the information
requested for proper acknowledgment to the family. Please place
it in the mail, using the envelope pre-addressed with the Good Samaritan
Society’s address. Be assured that 100 percent of your gift
goes to the Good Samaritan Village of Mountain Home.
Your gift will be gratefully received & acknowledged.
A letter informing the nearest family member of the memorial will
be sent.
